Little Bits of Honey Memorial Fund

The “Little Bits of Honey Memorial Fund” was set up to help parents, whose babies fall victim to SIDS, afford funeral, burial and grave site costs. As we are sure you can understand no parent is prepared to bury their infant and in many cases such a large expense is very difficult or even impossible. The average funeral costs alone are $2000.00, which does not include the burial, grave, headstone, flowers, prayer cards, etc. Parents are looking at bills totaling over $5000.00 + for the most basic service/burial. Parents are now not only left with the shock and devastation of their loss, but financial issues as well. The memorial fund will help with just this issue. The parents/families will be able to contact the fund to receive help with these costs. We know we cannot ease the burden of their loss, but we are sure we can help relieve some overwhelming heartache that comes with not being financially able to bury your infant. It is a very true reality that if the parents/families are unable to pay for the services, the babies are left with only a county burial, which in most counties due to limited land space, that is a county cremation.

Brad Wilkerson

In 2000, Brad Wilkerson decided to give back to the
places he first learned to play sports. Six years ago, Brad decided to have a charity golf tournament in Owensboro, Kentucky to help raise money for the United Way and the Boys and Girls Club of America. Through
his efforts, The Brad Wilkerson Charity Golf Classic has donated over $150,000 to these programs. Money is not all that Brad donates. While in Washington D.C., Brad became friends with a young man who was injured during the War in Iraq. Once he was released, Brad arranged for his new friend to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game.

The Crash

Northwest flight 255 was preparing for takeoff on the evening of August 16, 1987. Bound for Phoenix and continuing on to Orange County, the DC-9 was carrying 148* passengers and six crew members. The aircraft was cleared for takeoff on Detroit Metro's runway 03C and began its takeoff roll. After an longer than normal roll, the aircraft lifted off and immediately began rocking laterally.

The All Sports Assocation membership is made up of dues paying volunteers whose primary mission is to provide contribution of time to raise money for local youth oriented non-profit organizations with an emphasis on sports programs. Through the efforts of the association with the annual banquet, the group helps fund numerous worthwhile sports organizations and charitable causes. Main beneficiaries of the All Sports Association are the local YMCA, Boys and Girls Club and Special Olympics.

The Arizona Memorial Museum Association (AMMA), a non-profit organization authorized by Congress, supports the interpretation and related visitor service activities of the National Park Service (NPS) at four sites across the Pacific region.

Skip Prosser

Wake Forest Men's Basketball Coach Skip Prosser has passed away at the age 56. Prosser compiled a 126-68 record in six seasons as the head coach of the Demon Deacons and led the team to five postseason appearances including four trips to the NCAA Tournament. Wake Forest won the ACC regular season championship in 2003.
He compiled a career record of 291-146 in 14 seasons as a head coach. Prosser posted a 14-13 record in one year at Loyola (Md.) and then went 148-65 in seven seasons at Xavier, winning three Atlantic 10 regular season titles.

MUSIC FOR TOMORROW

The mission of Music for Tomorrow is to provide resources to enable the continuation of music traditions in need of assistance. These traditions are an important part of a shared culture heritage, which Music for Tomorrow wishes to preserve. The organization will achieve this by awarding grants to musicians and ensembles, presenting or subsidizing concert series, and supporting music institutions that protect our musical heritage.
Music for Tomorrow is currently committed to providing aid to the city of New Orleans, (1) by helping displaced musicians return to New Orleans, through grants for housing and living, (2) by helping, musicians already back in New Orleans through the subsidization of concerts and with need based grants, (3) and by supporting efforts to construct a National Jazz Center, which will serve as the first home for Jazz in America, through a partnership with the New Orleans Jazz Orchestra.

Band Against MS

The Band Against MS Foundation is a 501 (c) (3), or not-for-profit organization committed to providing educational information for those living with Multiple Sclerosis, funding programs researching a cure for Multiple Sclerosis, and funding programs helping those living with the disease. Nationally acclaimed recording artist Clay Walker established the Foundation in February 2003, because he wanted to help others living with the same disease he has battled since 1996. The Nolan Ryan Foundation , a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, was formed in Alvin, Texas in 1990. Nolan and Ruth generously give their time for signing and other fund-raising efforts that enable the Foundation to provide resources for youth, education, and community development.

Mickie DeMoss

University of Texas women’s basketball head coach Gail Goestenkors completed her staff Tuesday with the hiring of Mickie DeMoss, head coach at The University of Kentucky from 2003-07 and an associate head coach at The University of Tennessee from 1985-2003. Under legendary head coach Pat Summitt, DeMoss was part of six NCAA national championship efforts and 13 NCAA Final Four appearances as part of the Lady Vols coaching staff, and was considered among the most effective recruiters in the nation. Prior to her time at Tennessee, she was assistant coach at Auburn University (1983-85) and at Memphis State (1977-79) and was a head coach at The University of Florida (1979-83). DeMoss received her undergraduate degree at Louisiana Tech University in 1977 and a master’s degree in education at Memphis State University in 1979. "Months ago, I left the coaching profession -- to retire, really -- and take my first break from the game of basketball," DeMoss said. "It was not an easy decision, but one I truly needed to make.

First of all, I would like to thank you for all your thoughts and prayers. As many of you know, on August 16, 2005 I was scuba diving and while I was on the surface of the water the wake pushed me behind the boat and the propeller hit both of my legs. I was then sent to Miami where I underwent three surgeries and I lost both of my legs from the calf down. I spent about two weeks in the hospital and returned home to undergo rehabilitation. So far my rehabilitation has been tough but I have been given every opportunity possible.
This year, I am a senior at the McCallie School in Chattanooga, Tennessee. I have been a member of the golf and bowling teams for the past several seasons. One of my goals in rehabilitation was to rejoin my teammates for my senior year. I am happy to report that we just finished a successful golf season at McCallie and the bowling season is just underway. It’s great to be back playing golf and know that If it were not for your love and support, I would certainly not be doing as well as I am.
When I was in the hospital, I was really touched by the kids who would never be able to achieve their dreams because they did not have money to continue their recovery and rehabilitation. Larry was one boy who had been severely burned and was recovering in the Trauma Rehabilitation Unit. He had almost no resources with which to continue his rehabilitation after discharge. To make matters worse, Larry was placed on a waiting list to go to a foster home as his parents had abandoned him. I felt great sadness about his many losses and grateful for all the loving support I have received during my recovery.With that in mind, I have set up the Jordan Thomas Foundation to raise money for children with traumatic injuries who are not as fortunate as I. With my foundation, I hope to raise at least five hundred thousand dollars to help these kids. I would like for you to help us reach that goal!
