Susan G. Komen For The Cure

Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan G. Komen, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever.

In 1982, that promise became Susan G. Komen for the Cure and launched the global breast cancer movement. Today, Komen for the Cure is the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists fighting to save lives, empower people, ensure quality care for all and energize science to find the cures. Thanks to events like the Komen Race for the Cure, we have invested nearly $1 billion to fulfill our promise, becoming the largest source of nonprofit funds dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in the world.

The Jalen Rose Foundation

The Jalen Rose Foundation was
established by NBA star and Phoenix
Sun's Guard Jalen Rose to create
life-changing opportunities for underserved
youth through the development of unique
programs and the distribution of grants to
qualified nonprofit organizations. Grants
focus on sports and education and are
distributed in Jalen's hometown of Detroit
as well as his current NBA home.

Primarily funded through generous
donations from Jalen, JRF has distributed
nearly $1 million to charities. Most recently
JRF awarded a $100,000 grant to the
Biamba Marie Mutombo Hospital and
Research Center in the Democratic
Republic of the Congo. In addition to
supporting the endowment of a scholarship
at the University of Michigan, the foundation
distributes 5 four-year scholarships
annually to Detroit high school seniors. JRF
received more than 230 applications this
year from qualified Detroit high school
seniors looking for financial assistance.

The foundation welcomes individual
donations and corporate sponsors so that
we can enhance our scholarship program.
Every young man and woman deserves
access to a college education!

Deborah Kerr

Deborah Kerr died recently. She was 86. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences nominated Kerr six times for best actress, but never gave her an Academy Award until it presented an honorary Oscar in 1994 for her distinguished career as an "artist of impeccable grace and beauty, a dedicated actress whose motion picture career has always stood for perfection, discipline and elegance."

AC Green Foundation

The A.C. Green Youth Foundation is about building character, building strong bodies and strong minds, winning and losing with dignity, teamwork, and sacrifice. We provide programs that ignite dreams and an abstinence program that says it's okay to wait until marriage. In short, we are building leaders. Leaders who, in their individual capacity, no matter what their station in life, will be able to stand up for what is right instead of wrong, and in fact, will be their brother's keeper.
