Replacing A Legend


To replace legendary coach Marsha Sharp who resigned in February Texas Tech announced today the hiring of Kristy Curry as head women's basketball coach. Curry takes over the Lady Raider basketball program after serving the last seven years as the head coach at Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind. In her seven years at the helm of the Boilermakers, Curry became one of the most successful coaches in Purdue history. During her time on the Purdue sidelines, she compiled a career record of 179-51 (.778) and was 86-26 (.768) in Big Ten Conference games.

Michigan Wolverines


The University of Michigan men's basketball team earned a berth in the NIT championship game for the second time in three years with a resounding 66-43 victory over Old Dominion in the semifinal round last night at Madison Square Garden. Michigan (22-10) will meet South Carolina in the title game on Thursday at 7 p.m.

FINAL FOUR!


Florida advanced to its third Final Four in school history, taking the Minneapolis Region with a 75-62 win over Villanova. Florida has never won a national title in basketball, losing in the NCAA Finals in 2000 to Michigan State and losing in the national semifinals in 1994 to Duke. They play George Mason on Saturday.

Florida Gators


Courtesy of a remarkable shot from Corey Brewer, Florida is moving on to the Elite Eight beating Georgetown 57-53. With a school-record 30 wins, third-seeded Florida (30-6) will face top-seed Villanova on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. in a rematch against the school that knocked the Gators out of the tournament a year ago.

NIT


The University of Michigan men's basketball team advanced to the NIT semifinals Thursday night (March 22), storming past the Miami (Fla.) Hurricanes, 71-65, in the Wolverine senior's last home ball game at Crisler Arena. The Maize and Blue never trailed in the contest, leading as much as 13 points in the second half. With the victory, the Wolverines advance to the NIT semifinals and will face Old Dominion Wednesday night, Tuesday (March 28) at Madison Square Garden in New York City, N.Y.

Michigan Wolverines


The University of Michigan men's basketball team defeated the Notre Dame Fighting Irish 87-84 in double overtime Monday night at Crisler Arena to advance to the quarterfinals of the NIT. With the win, the Wolverines advance to the NIT Quarterfinals and will host No. 3 seed Miami (Fla.) Wednesday (March 22) at Crisler Arena.

SWEET SIXTEEN BOUND!


Corey Brewer scored 23 points, Joakim Noah added 17 and the third-seeded Gators routed 11th-seeded Wisconsin-Milwaukee 82-60 Saturday in the second round of the NCAA tournament. Florida advanced to the semifinals of the Minneapolis Regional, the first time the team has escaped the opening weekend of the tourney since 2000.

NIT


Snapping a three game losing streak the Michigan Wolverines defeated UTEP last night 82-67 in the first round of the NIT at Crisler Arena. They play Notre Dame next Monday night.

Florida Gators


Beating 14th seeded South Alabama 76-50, the 3rd seeded Florida Gators advanced to the second round of the NCAA tournament. Longtime friends Billy Donovan and John Pelphrey coached against each other for the first time. Pelphrey and Donovan essentially grew up coaching together. Pelphrey was Donovan's right-hand man for eight years at Marshall and then Florida. Florida plays Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Saturday.

Florida Gators


The Florida Gators Women's Basketball team earned an invitaion to the NCAA Tournament yesterday. The Gators were awarded the No. 6 seed in the Albuquerque Regional Monday night and will face 11th-seeded and 24th-ranked New Mexico (21-9) Saturday night at the McKale Center in Tucson, Ariz. Tip-off is set for about 10:30 p.m.

Congratulations to the Florida Gators' Men's Basketball team for defeating South Carolina 49-47 and winning the Southeastern Tournament for the second year in a row. They also got a number three seed in the NCAA Tournament and play South Alabama in the first round on Thursday.

Florida Gators


The Florida Gators' Men's Basketball team beat Kentucky today 79-64 at Rupp Arena. It was the first time in school history that they have beaten Kentucky four straight times. It gives Florida the second seed in the SEC tournament and a bye in the first round.
